News From The Front

Front and companion could be glimpsed near the back of the Fillmore last night, waving a fey wrist gently airward at requisite moments. The show was Busta Rhymes and let’s just take a second here to say that the things he does with his mouth are inhuman, are feats more readily identified with titans, sea monsters, and robots who travel through time. If MC Frontalot could emit even a feeble imitation of Busta’s limitless mic technique, he would have a career instead of a web site. Three cheers!

Some dude named Gabe (I think he draws a web comic) has used his psychic powers (not his eyeballs) to drawthis incredibly accurate portrait of MC Frontalot. There is also a picture of what Front got for his birthday from his friends in the criminal sector. That’s the last square in the gallery.

A new song is almost recorded! It will be called “Which MC Is That?”

The answer is not MC Potbelly. Yet if you follow his complicated music-hearing directions, you will be oddly rewarded.

Frontalot and cohorts were in evidence last night at The Makeout Room for the SF premiere of samba tributariesSmokey & Miho. Sitting in was Ralph Carney (sax on most of your favorite Tom Waits records), who said he’d come by Frontalot HQ for liquor afterwards, but didn’t.

Which is too bad, as he would have received (alongside his liquor) a special copy of Good Old Clyde, the Front tune that happens to have Ralph’s horn sampled throughout.

Miho, who is not sampled, would have received a copy of the home game.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it: despite relative wackness, Floating Bridge song triumphs in Song Fightcompetition! Suspicious sources report that Front’s fierce and tiny cadre of internet fans have tipped the voting, citing as evidence the fact that competing songfighters inspire little admiration outside of their immediate families.

Please rectify this tragedy by turning into rabid fans of battle-scarred computer nerds/songmakers: 1 2 3 4 5.

Front & posse were seen last night at the Great American Music Hall! In the audience at the Eels concert. We found it rocking and then some. What, a night of hip-hop neglect? No. Warm-up act and soon-to-be darling of nerds everywhere Ben Kweller opened with “Ice Ice Baby” and Eels started their set with “Get Ur Freak On.” Which we did.

The loverly Kompressor/Frontalot duet “Rappers We Crush” is in the music section.
