News From The Front

The Nerdcore Rising: The Movie site is freshly re-imagineered, to promote the big DVD release this month. You should host a screening at your house, for your friends. There will be a special nerdcore song fight, curated by Front himself; details soon on that.

Broken frontalot.com: repaired! Did you try to sign up for an account recently, so that you might use the BBS or join the VSP or just plain old buy an MP3 version of Final Boss? And then the dumb thing did not ever send you the required confirmation email? TRY AGAIN! Please. We fixed it.

If you get an account, you can help us test-drive the all-three-albums MP3/AAC/FLAC store. Niiiiice.

The Penny Arcade Expo was a glorious success, as it tends to be! Also successful: the delivery of Tycho’s latestwhelp. Nice work, everyone. Front felt privileged both to perform and to pal around with the PAX-Goers, the Enforcers, the PA brass, the nerd royalty (Coulton, Paul & Storm, Wheaton, Kurtz, Amend, Freezepop, Anamanaguchi, Metroid Metal… there was no lack). If you’re clever, you’ll get in on the PAX East action while the getting’s good.

Front’s next Rappening™ occurs in Mesa, AZ, at the Kingdom Of Loathing’s annual get together. We’ve just heard that the general public will be allowed into the concert after all, for a mere ten bucks. But! If you inhabit the Kingdom, you’ll want the whole weekend’s excitement for your own.

Frontalot rocks the stage tonight at PAX in Seattle, if he is not feeling poorly! On the subject of feeling downright ill, see Diseases Of Yore, the brand new single from the Final Boss CD. It has Jonathan Coulton singing and playing his guitar, which is a fine couple of things to have on a song. JoCo and Paul and Storm will back Front up tonight for this very number. Familiarize yourself with it ahead of time, perhaps by pressing the big round play button in the upper left of this very front page.

If you are so lucky as to have an expo credential, stop by Bandland (near the big theater’s entrance) and say hi to Front & Ma Front, who hawk their warezzz all weekend.

Front has ruined his back (again) and will have to miss most of FOO Camp this weekend, but he’s still planning to stop in on Saturday and do a little low-key rapping for the assembled nerd world order. Then it’s lots of resting so that PAX can feature a robust assorment of herky-jerky dance moves!

Stop whatever you’re doing and send an email to vote for Doggy Fresh to appear on a mural in Front’s neighborhood. He’s candidate number 32. We’ve filled most of it out for you, but you should include a unique sentence or two to prove that we have not forced robots to vote in our stead.

Front and friends did their duty warming up the edge of Ozzy’s stage at Blizzcon. A fine time, had by all! Now they languish briefly in Brooklyn before heading west again for PAX. Even before then, you will find Front at O'Reilly FOO Camp, if you are fancy enough to attend.

Bl4k Lotus, the mean green bass playin’ machine and Frontal bandmember, lives an alternate (by which we mean non-nerdcore) life as an indie rock superstar called Brandon Patton. His brand new album Underhill Downs is available as of today, and you should go buy it from him before something terrible happens to Internet and you can’t buy it any more! That is all.

There is a cat on Twitter. Well, there’s probably a number of them, but this one is the most-followed one, and his name is Socks, and he belongs to Front’s pal Jason, and so here’s a little theme song for the cat, to celebrate the millionth follower that the cat got on Twitter, and also probably the apocalypse is coming, but there will have to be another theme song for that, later. UPDATE! Jason’s video.

Frontalot, the rapper about whom this web site’s news post reports, is about to go to Anaheim for Blizzcon! If you’ve already secured entry, make sure you come see him and his band. They’ll be doing 15-minute sets all Friday afternoon, in between mainstage events, and a disco number in the dance competition that evening. If you can’t make it, we hear the whole thing’s going out on satellite teevee.

Speaking of cons, PAX is pretty soon, too, isn’t it? Please note that Frontalot’s set is happening in the Friday concert this year. And! Kingdom of Loathing has got a con coming up, for which Front and crew will perform a special faux-unplugged set. There’s details on the KoL forums.

Hey, did you see Front and Lars babbling about webcomics? Thank goodness it was captured on film by G4.

Hot pixel alert! Front will take his gawky (and gawking) self over to the Tank tonight to see Schaffer host a night of Video Game Vixens burlesque. Join him there if you like nudity, nerdery.

It is time to talk about albums that Front has heard recently! Specifically, the ones that were extra good.Random’s The 8th Day is available, and has Front on it, and is amazing. Dual Core’s Next Level just came out, and has Front on it, and is amazing. Are only albums with Fronalot cameos amazing? Heck no! Wheelie (late of Optimus Rhyme) has a new project called Supercommuter, and you can pre-order the CD to get mp3s on the immediate tip. Front’s been listening. Quality of the album? Amazing. Front was lucky enough to pick up anEP from Doomtree’s Dessa in San Diego and he’s been bumping that one in the van. Oh. Amazing! Okay.

Speaking of things that Front’s homies do (that are amazing), you should check out the new Unicorns Rock shirt shop. It is ideal for anyone who likes pointy horns and puking rainbows. Get in the mood with a li'l revisit tounicornwolflazersfuckyou, then clad yourself in the finest metacute nerdrags.

Our frontist fades back into his Brooklyn routine: walking Doggy Fresh, staying up too late, and rocking mad rhymes into the computron. New album in the works? Yes! Expect it to crash land come springtime. Until then, be ready for anything.

Such as? Front and co play the daytime shift at Blizzcon on Friday the 21st, with little bitty sets all afternoon. Details adorn the info page, as per usual.

Oh, and! Remember the current album? Remember how it has Schaffer on it, for the duration of one skit? Front is going to Schaffer’s tonight to return the favor. This isn’t exactly breaking news, but we’re excited about it around Nerdcore HQ, so we thought we’d mention.

MC Frontalot is in glorious, sunshiney San Diego for the Comical Con occasionally held therein. He will be stationed with his generous booth-hosts, the creators of the Penny Arcade illustrated electro-pamphlet, daily, at booth 1237. On Saturday, he and his drummer will do a song every hour or so, maybe there, maybe across the aisle at KoL (1431).

And don’t you want to see a whole concert? Like, in a club? Like, with MC Lars and ytcracker and Doomtree and debut videos by C&H and SMBC? Of course you do. That’s Saturday night at Casbah, and a few tickets remain available.

Front and crew are home, safely, soundly, from Nerdapalooza. It was a wonderful time, and the band would like to thank every last one of you who came out to the fest. Also, particularly big thanks to Hex and his devoted staff. The whole thing’s a labor of love on their part, and they did an amazing job bringing their vision to life and sharing it with the nerdworld public. You can sight cell phone recordings of the event by peering through a tubeof some sort.

Next up is comic-con! Tickets for the concert at Casbah! Own them!
