News From The Front

2010-09-01

PAX! It is this very weekend. Front expects to see you at the Saturday night concert (with JoCo and Paul & Storm), at the JiNX party Friday night (for a short set w/ DJ CPU), and/or at his glorious purch-a-torium (also known as his ‘bandland merch booth,’ where he and Ma Front will be camped all weekend for autographs, photos, hugs, and capitalism).

Next up? Phoenix for Kingdom of Loathing Con on Sept 18th, then Austin for FantasticFest (he’ll be by for a Nerdcore Rising screening on Sept 22, and a concert at the Let Me In premiere party at the Highball on the 23rd).

And then? Tour! We promise we’ll have those dates posted almost immediately.

Meanwhile: Get Lamp is available at long last; MC Lars’s new video is the bee’s knees; YT’s on a Space Mission; Slaughterhouse 90210 is Front’s new favorite tumblr (sorry, UWLFY); Eazy and Cash make mash;Nedroid gets interpreted in audio; Vic-20 seeks funds for an amazing video; Molly23 has the lowdown on newfacial hair nomenclature.

Oh! And Front expects to premiere the Spoiler Alert video and single somewhere this weekend. PAX, most likely. Okay, yes, let’s just say: at PAX.

Brooklyn! It is hot and wonderful. MC Frontalot will hide away from the world here and work on his various debilitating personal issues.

After that is PAX.

Front is in Berkeley, taking care of a little bit of business. Stay tuned for the October tour details!

Front’s in San Diego at Comic-Con! Come meet him and buy things and have those things autographed, any time, all weekend long. The booth space is kindly provided by team Penny Arcade, and you will find Front on their outer edge, booth 1237.

The show at Casbah is tonight, with Lars, yt, Megaran, and the Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal crew. Front’s on around 11:15, so can probably even catch him after w00tstock.

Tomorrow (Friday) is the hotly anticipated Zero Day Print signing with Jhonen Vasquez. Find your dear MC Frontalot and Mr. V seated together at the Topatoco booth (#1231, just around the corner) from 5:30 until 7 in the evening. Those prints will be available at Front’s concession for the remainder of the weekend.

Whew. The new single is go! Grab the MP3 or AAC of First World Problem and blare it proudly from your luxury-item stereophonic audio loudspeakers. Then watch the video (YouTube or Quicktime) on your hand-held wireless computer phone or towering flatscreen monitor. Afterwards, funnel some of your disposable income toward the rapper in question by buying the album: Zero Day. These actions will not keep at bay the creeping dread of a life wasted. But they will distract you briefly (and thoroughly)! So have at.

See the previous news below for Nerdapalooza and Comic-Con shows. San Diego attendees are to stand advised: Jhonen’s intensely rawsome Zero Day cover art is becoming a limited edition fancypants print, and Comic-Con’s where to get it. Front and JV will sit quietly together at the Topatoco booth on Friday the 23rd to vend and signthe things. Hot damn!

Front’s got a couple more shows that he ought to type into the calendar but hasn’t yet: PAX Prime in Seattle, KoL Con in Phoenix, FantasticFest in Austin. Details soon.

Happy Recreational Explosions Day to you, celebrants of yankee antiauthoritarianism! Front will be enjoying a nice grilled meat product and bubbling alcohol drink on a roof in the Mission district of San Francisco. He hopes your own plans are similarly pleasant.

Nerdapalooza fast approaches! Front and band will be there to round out the Sunday night program. Such a collection of geeked out wonderments is rarely available to you, the concertgoing public. Take advantage.

And there’s a nerdcore hip-hop night ready-brewed for you at San Diego Comic-Con: MC Lars, Random, ytcracker, and your own most frontingest MC… these forces gather and explode at the Casbah on Thursday the 22nd. Get your ticket right away.

The new single is overdue! We’ve been hard at work trying to wrestle a viable encoding of the video from the flaming wreckage of a data catastrophe. Yes, not having a high-enough resolution version of your new rap video is kind of a first world problem; the irony is lost on nobody. That will come, along with MP3 and even a remix kit, soon. Till then, the initial version remains available at SPIN.

There’s a brand new video! It is for the brand new single. Neither of them are posted on frontalot.com today because Front’s stuck in a part of England where they haven’t invented uploading yet. So you’ll have to make due with this SPIN exclusive hosting of the flash video version in the meantime. Oh, the song? First World Problem!

Oh, speaking of video: here’s what Front’s been up to in England: ruining Wheatus’s hit single Teenage Dirtbag with an unnecessary rap breakdown every night. It usually goes kind of like this.

Front’s inaugural UK tour is going peachily! The folks are kindly and enjoy tea (though more often they seem to enjoy the beer and scotch) and the countryside is charming as all get out. There are still plenty of UK dates in June, so if you’re on that particular island, plan accordingly.

Our MC will take one little detour from the proper tour route for a freshly added Sunderland show on the 18th.

Front gears up to take the karaoke rappin’ version of his act to ye olde United Kingdom for fourteen shows as he opens for Wheatus over the course of June. Get your tickets; they are available in exchange for “pounds!” If a (metric) buttload of nerdfolk come out to see him, it will bolster his ability to bring the whole band out for a full-service tour next time around. Consider it an investment.

The new album is distributed nonstop in his absence: physical+download or download-only are your top options. The first single has Mike Doughty singing Wil Wheaton’s credo. If that’s not an enticement, we know naught of enticements.

Things happening later in the summer, which will be on the gig calendar when we have time to make it so: Nerdapalooza and San Diego Comic-Con in late July; a September full to brimming with PAX and KoL Con and a Planned Parenthood 75th Anniversary Blowout in Kansas City and Fantastic Fest in Austin; a possible tour in October; Blak Lotus’s sex tape getting leaked (tentative).

Ma Front’s foot surgery went nicely; thanks for asking! She heals up rapidly and has Doggy Fresh to comfort her. Our blighted MC had a li'l surgery too, just to feel included. Don’t look at the photo. For serious, though. Don’t. No good can come of it.

2010-05-20

Whew! Only one show left (Fri the 21st in Philly) and Front’s domestic tour is complete. It’s been a long andstoried seven weeks. Crowds have been bigger and friendlier than ever, and the whole band thanks y'all for making this thing possible.

Next up: The UK! MC Frontalot will rap (karaoke style, alas) before each of these Wheatus performances in June. Let your favorite British person know!

There are a couple official videos for Zero Day tracks in the works. When will they emerge? One hopes to say hella soon but one is hesitant. Fine art must unfold at its leisure. In the meantime, why not make your own, asSparemeister has done with his Council Of Loathing fan vid?
