News From The Front

2017.7.4

The new Frontalot video is out for the 4th of July! Celebrate our nation’s hostility toward the British crown by listening to Front rap about internet arguments over Free Software! It’s thematically related to the holiday, sort of, a little bit, yet largely free of the half-panicked political alarm-ringing that typifies our MC’s rhetorical output lately. It’s got something for everyone, and everything for nobody!

We must pause to thank a free software company, The OpenNMS Group, for commissioning this piece and making it available to the world. Show them some love.

The animated video by Chad Essley is pretty great. Cameos include: Lawrence Lessig (who is name-dropped in the lyric), Snowden and Assange (who are not), our ghoulish current prez, some poor sap forced at gunpoint to recite the song’s lyric on North Korean television, and a bird who looks borderline-infringingly similar to Drinky Crow! There are probably dozens of other little details and Easter Eggs in there, which you should definitely catalog while watching the clip over and over again.

Ever wanted to remix a Frontalot song? Well, in further thematic synergy, Freedom Feud’s source tracks are now available under a Creative Commons license for your artistic experimentation and/or Hawt Jam Cookery. Grab the kit here. Free MP3/AAC/FLAC versions of the mastered song are available too.

Front’s gonna see you at DEF-CON in Vegas this month. Then there are a couple more PAXes this year, on opposite sides of the earth. Front will rap at both of those. Will he figure out how to get on the road with Schaffer, Ran, and Lars in the fall? Stay tuned!

Too Many Games! That’s Front’s next show. And what a show it’ll be: Front’s on Friday 6/23 (w/ DJ CPU plus Curveball on drums) alongside Brentalfloss, Super Thrash Bros, and Crush 40! Saturday’s show has TWiS, Steel Samurai, Da Games, Armcannon, Powerglove, Psychostick! Sunday’s got Random AKA Megaran, Spose, Keith Apicary, and Auralnauts! There’s not enough exclamation marks on the keyboard to adequately express!!!

You should be watching Miss Eaves’s new video, Thunder Thighs. It’s your summer jam.

2017.6.1

Our MC does his raps with the backing of DJ CPU this very weekend, Sat 6/3 in Brooklyn. You get a ticket, you go. It’s the afterparty for HushCon, so you will probably meet a cool hacker and fall in love. Also, Schaffer and Dual Core and kHill will all be rapping. Tickets, like we said.

In news of future fronting, stay posted for info on Front’s sets at Too Many Games and DEF-CON.

Catch our tolerable MC’s interview on yesterday’s Lunduke Hour if you’re so inclined! Over at filmblog Stand By For Mind Control, you can read his recent poetics re:FF8 or his current grumpiness re:B&B’17.

We’re not sure if this is announcement-ready quite yet, so keep it under your hat: Front is expected to perform at Brooklyn’s own HUSHCON with Schaffer the Darklord and Int80 of Dual Core in June.

Front knows what all you deviants are doing tomorrow…

Looking at the internet, like usual! Here’s some nice ways to do that: excellent new videos from Frontal associates Sammus, Quelle Chris, and Open Mike Eagle, a hot new song from Mega Ran & Kadesh Flow, a browser game called Factory Idle, a page reminding you to be excited that West Of Loathing is coming out in a few weeks, a strange and enthralling fantasy western webcomic called Back which is made by KC Green and Anthony Clark.

Check back soon for news that actually has something to do with MC Frontalot! There may be a bit of that brewing.

2017.1.1

Happy New Year to you, if and where such things are marked this morning. Listeners in China and various other locales are welcome to scoff at our lowly regional annus count.

Front does not resolve to do specific things with the changing of the calendar, but he is pretty well resolved to get this darn EP wrapped up soon. He would very much like to share it with you at PAX East and South By Southwest, both of which occur this March. You are unlikely to see him sooner! He is sad to miss you at PAX South this year.

Perhaps you’ll see him on the streets of our capitol in twenty days, marching to protest the fascist bent of our incoming executive branch. Why not join him there?

2016.12.8

Front’s in Los Angeles to shoot a video with the talented and affable BroSis crew! Perhaps you will see him dining on a brunch somewhere, or rubbing elbows with the glittering celebrity horde. Be sure to point the paparazzi his direction, if you do.
