News From The Front

2008-01-23

Front stopped by the G4 studios in LA during the most recent tour to be on Freestyle 101. It is now posted. He performs fragments from several fan favorites and even manages a small amount of extemporaneous material in the middle there. Also, he does not seem to have taken his hand-and-arm stillness medication.

Big and happy birthdays this week to Gm7 and The Categorical Imperative! They are old men. Bonus: Gm7’s birthday cake make it onto boingboing.

Looks like Front is headed to ROFLcon in late April. It is a convention where people who are internet-famous get drunk. Or so Jeffrey claims. Though we suspect that Jeffrey’s mere presence is enough to qualify anywhere as “where people who are internet-famous get drunk.” All the attendeeds, once drunk, will surely spend the weekend looking at each other’s referer logs and trying to figure out why we’re 750,000,000,000 words into this internet thing and still haven’t produced material as funny as Sid and Nanette pantomiming to Beethoven.

There’s a Song Fight Live thing tonight and tomorrow night in Brooklyn and Front might not even make it over there. But he’ll try. What is up with New York being too busy a place for to do fun things? Sadness!

Also, in case you needed another reason not to listen to Sean Paul, it seems he can give you seizures.

Sorry if you were sick of having years; we’ve decided to do another one! So happy rollover on the annumometer, folks. Drink something with bubbles in it. Front will sit by himself in a small bunker and play Sudoku on his phone. There is supposed to be a Y2K8 bug in the razr that sets your hi-score for expert mode to 14 seconds.

Other things to do at year’s end: see Front’s guest comic at Overcompensating, listen to the least appealing pop song scientific polling can muster, play a game that does not have buttons, watch a game wheregriefers render all your buttons useless, and make your own list of lists like this one.

MC Frontalot: second-sexiest geek of the year? We’re glad this Violet Blue person did not peruse theavailable evidence. Perhaps we can hide Front’s obvious lameness long enough to for her to locate him and pick him up at a bar in the Mission while he’s home over the holidays.

Did you catch Front’s guest appearance in The OC last week? Keep an eye on Jeff’s site, there may be a surprise in store.

Our friendly neighborhood MC is way the heck behind in his listening. The stack of things he wants to hear is tall and wobbly! But he just got done playing the new Whoremoans album and it is shit hot. We think you can go to the (ow! the pain!) myspace and click on the album cover under “sounds like” if you want to buy it, or elsewise suffer through the Snocap dispenser. Also on the shit hot list: Doug Cheatwood’s new CD. Another confusing pathway to purchase. Figure it out and you’ll be glad. In the queue for Frontal examination? The debutGrammar Club EP, the Dual Core records, the new Wu Tang, and everything from this year’s Pitchfork Top 50.

Word of the year: w00t. Wait, word of which year? It is supposed that we pay the M-W people to be meticulous, not prompt. Also: not indubitably branded.

Front has gotten done with his new song “Final Boss,” but none of you can hear it ever for any reason. Unless of course you wait patiently for the PA game, in which the song will be included. In the meantime, play this heart-breaking low-res art object game thing in which there are no bosses, mini, final, or otherwise.

Tears! Sobbing! The autumn tour is over. Which makes sense, since it is pretty much winter now. Big thanks to everyone who came along, everyone who opened shows, and Schaffer for keeping the van unutterably filthy the entire time. Not that he is bad at throwing away garbage or messy with food. It is the way he talks. Oh, how he talks. See you all next time! Don’t miss the zillion crappy cellphone vids on ewwwwtube.

Want to hear the Katamari remix of the PA Theme? It is not really a remix, just a revamped version that Front has been doing live since PAX (which is where this recording came from). You can also hear it at the Beautiful Katamari “Online Music Festival,” a phrase which serves as euphemism for “Marketing Web Page.” Still, it is full of rad stuff by dope bands. Check it out.

Front ruled the roost in Los Angeles last night. Tomorrow night? Portland! And SF is going to sell out. So be wise with the clicky spend spend. Oh, and for tonight: happy turkey day!

Front and cohorts rocked the hell out of Denver last night. Thanks for coming! On to SLC, LA, SF, and Portlandia. Get your tix before it is way too late.

Frontalot rocked the crowds in Columbus, Chicago, and Minneapolis, then drank beers with KoL luminaries Mr. & Mrs. Skullhead. And argued over whether Mr. Tarantino is a hack. (Secret answer: he hell of is). Onwards to Nebraska tomorrow (early show!) and then Denver with yt, SLC, LA, Portland, and a big closer in SF. Don’t miss your tickets. Okay. So! The 100MB HiDef DivX version of the Bizarro Genius Baby video is public! It has a better-than-tubey flash encoding AND a torrent over at the bt site. Get it.
