SOURCE KITS USE AGREEMENT

By downloading any material from this site, user is hereby aware that MC Frontalot does not release any rights derived from the material. That means it belongs to MC Frontalot even though you (the "user") gets this chance to fuss around with it.
Source Kits
How It Works

1) Read the agreement above, click your agreeableness, then download a source kit from the list. Source kits are .zip files with the following inside:

  • One or more beat fragments, for reference loops
  • A capella tracks: Front's various performances on the song
  • A .txt file with any notes regarding layout and tempo challenges

2) Pull the audio material from the .zip. Vocal tracks will all be syncronized to the same zero point. Some songs maintain a steady BPM, which you can reference with a single looped bar of the original song's percussion. Some layouts change up slightly at the chorus or have other eccentric qualities (read: shoddy workmanship by Front). In these cases the notes will explain how to create a reference layout of the varied fragments. Because all software sequencers treat BPM divisions differently, the only exact numbers you will find in the notes are sample counts.

3) Use your awesome DJ powers to create a brand new music bed for the song. You are welcome to mash it up however you like, but keep in mind that the only songs accepted back into the OSB for posting at frontalot.com:

  • Contain no unlicensed samples (I know, pot, kettle, etc)
  • Are mastered with at least a careful final mix EQ and compression/limiting
  • Are submitted as MP3, OGG, or AAC (any @ 192k VBR)
  • Will be available for Front to stick on a remix record some day and sell to his adoring public (with your DJ name on it)

4) Log in. You'll need a system account.

5) If this is your first submission, you'll need to provide:

  • Your DJ name (or whatever name you want to be credited under when the mix is posted)
  • Your URL (especially if you have other music online)
  • Your real actual name & age (Front will keep this secret)

6) Enter the name of your remix and submit your file (10MB or less) using the http upload form at the above left.

7) Wait. Front or one of his cohorts will approve your submission as soon as possible. It will appear on the OSB page, VSP kids will vote on its relative awesomeness, and it will have a chart position. The three top-charting remixes appear also on the MP3 page, as does the newest approved OSB track.

8) Enjoy some pie.

Please note: too much pie will turn you into a tremendous fatty.
