The new MC Frontalot album, Final Boss, is pre-orderable for its Nov 4 release. And if you pre-order it now, you get to pre-listen to it for the whole month and a half while you're waiting for your mail carrier. Yes, indeedy: buy a CD, download it right away. Just like you always wanted. The album page has plenty of teaser mp3s, performance credits, and your purchasing options.
The first single, Wallflowers, is available in full (mp3)(aac)(ogg)(lyric). It's all about a new dance craze called The Margaret Thatcher. You will endeavor to win the contest for most-awesomest yootoob video set to this song. Will other people endeavor towards the same end? Will there be more toob vids of Wallflowers than there are of The Soulja Boy? Seems unlikely. Contest info and Jason Scott's kickass seeder vid to be posted soon.
If you're anywhere near Phoenix, get yourself to see MC Frontalot, MC Lars, and The Minibosses, all on stage for KoL Con's concert night, Sat the 27th at The Clubhouse in Tempe. Deets on the calendar. If you're anywhere near a computer (we think you probably are), get yourself into the Kingdom for some adventure.
If you're at University of Maryland, we think tonight might be your last chance to see Nerdcore Rising: The Movie on your campus big screen. But if you're in Arkansas, you can see it in October at Hot Springs Documentary Film Fest, along with a Frontalot performance. Or if you're in Edmonton, Canada, in a couple weeks, or... wait a minute, you can keep track of screenings on this handy page at nerdcorerising.com. Convenience exemplified!
We hear that the weird PS3 issue with Front's Rock Band download has been cleared up via patching. But we can't promise that based on first-hand intel since nobody around here can afford a PS3.
Frontalot is home from PAX. PAX? Oh yeah, that was just some little get together that a couple of gamer kids had last weekend. We're sure you weren't missing anything. Except for like the awesomest video game expo on the face of this or (we're assuming) any planet! Front and company did a respectable job of hip-hopifying the Saturday night show, with Anamanaguchi, Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, and the ever-lovin' Minibosses holding down all the rocking and rolling duties. Friday night, Front was visible in the audience (well, the fancy beanbaggy section of the audience), for the OneUps, Freezepop, and Jonathan Coulton sets. Speaking of Coulton, did we mention that he's on the new MC Frontalot album? Yeah, that's the same new album you're not allowed to buy until Nov 4th. But here's some previewy toobage from that PAX thing we were just talking about.
Everyone's asking about the tour. November 1st through December 13th. Everywhere. Those our the two answers we've got so far. Stand by for more.
Hey, go download Dude & Catastrophe for Rock Band! It is available as part of the PAX pack, with Coulton and the Thickets. Usually when we tell you to go download something, we mean in your web browser. But this time we mean on your console of choice.
And finally, see some awesome gigantic pictures of all the nerdcore superstars in this month's Blender. And a li'l picture of Frontalot, too. It's their vital-to-all-humanity Nerdapalooza '08 coverage, yet they decided to go with Pussycat Dolls for the cover. A letter to the editor is perhaps warranted.
Ms. Farsad gets ready for PAX, by forcing MC Frontalot to appear with her in this amusing video. Its essential message is this: don't miss the documentary's west coast premiere at 4PM on Saturday in the big old convention hall. The band gets ready for PAX, mostly by rehearsing numbers from the new record (Diseases of Yore, Shame Of The Otaku, Tongue-Clucking Grammarian, plus the title track). The new record! The new record! Presales begin shortly. Until then, drool over the cover art by Scott C.
Speaking of PAX, did we mention that Front and band blow the roof off the sucker on Saturday night? Do what you must to secure your wristbandy goodness. If it is impossible for you to attend PAX, but you're going to be in Seattle that weekend anyhow, come see Front's secret appearance at the high-caliber nerdcore show Thurs night. It's so secret that we have failed to put it on the gig calendar -- but not so secret that we'd actually go without mentioning it. Thu Aug 28, at High Dive, doors around 9p, with Optimus Rhyme, The Goondocks, and from what we hear, MC Lars and YTCracker. Front will be oiling up his whole PAX set, so stop by to catch all the missed lyrics and off-key singing before they are banished forever.
What other exciting things are new (and exciting)? How about this badass Wordburglar video? What say you to the brand new Random album, with a guest appearance by Frontalot (on the track Reset Button)? How about an XBOX 360? What, you're not getting a new xbox? Oh, right. Front is! He's waited long enough. He needs to be primed and ready to play Rock Band in a couple weeks when Dude & Catastrophe gets released for it as DLC. Also, his PS2 is old enough to drink in some countries and it no longer reads discs without daily dissassembly and laser alignment massage. If you want to help him into the now, join Front's VSP.
