NEWS FROM THE FRONT 2.5.10

Hey, just so that you don't freak out or anything while waiting eight long weeks for that new Frontalot album, here's a song from that album for you to enjoy immediately: Your Friend Wil, hosted over at SPIN.com. Here are two awesome things about this song: 1) it is a theme song for Mr. Wil Wheaton, whose credo remains 'don't be a dick,' and 2) the man singing at chorus time is Mike Doughty, who is among MC Frontalot's very favoritest song-singing people in the whole world. So, yeah. The excitements! Join in them.

Also! Skip that stupid Superbowl nonsense and come see Front and band rock Pianos in NYC on Sunday evening. And then Monday evening, Boston is rocked. Okay!

Alright, folks! The new album is called Zero Day. It is "in the can" (can of audio tape? film stock?) and comes out in early April. Stand by for secret clues about how awesome it is.

Front, The CI, Gm7, and Blak Lotus journey to central MA to play the Meat For Tea shindig with old pals The Mathematicians on Saturday night. Attend. Next weekend it's the Frontalot plus Brandon Patton Non-Superbowl-Related Celebration at Pianos. They will provide some kind of sporting contest to entertain you. Perhaps fisticuffs. Then on Mon the 8th you are expected in Allston (which is like Boston but with an "All" sound at the beginning) at Harper's Ferry for some more Patton on Frontalot action. Tickets here.

Front is on the huntdown after a new booking agent! Use all of your think-power to recommend a good lead. A little more on that is here.

Weirdly at odds with this report of agentlessness, we bring you another new performance date: Feb 20th at the NC Comedy Arts Festival. That one's going to be an extra big, extra wonderful show, so get your tickets locked down right the heck now. Not on the calendar yet, but happening: South By Southwest! Probably Mar 17th. Stay tuned.

12.31.09

Front wishes a grand and happy new year to each of you! The new album will be mastered in 25 days, then unleashed on the public at PAX East. Plan accordingly.

Here's a very nice new music video of Front and Lars rapping about video games, from Lars's latest full album, which you should already have. The clip was shot late one night at Nerdapalooza, and it has almost every nerdcore person in the known universe in it somewhere, bobbing, nodding, or looking bored. Take a look. You will not look bored while watching, promise.

12.20.09

Getting down to the wire on the new album! It will be all done soon. The guest stars are wonderful and plentiful and secret (for now). The beats are incomparably fresh. The disc shape will be traditional round.

Frontalot performances occur in Northampton, Boston, New York City, and San Francisco, all between January 30th and February 15. Such globetrotting! See gig calendar for details.

12.3.09

Yes, okay! It is MC Frontalot's birthday today. He has entered into his late mid-thirties, a time for sober reflection and abbreviated calorie intake. Why not listen to This Old Man on repeat? It is a song Front wrote when entering his mid-early-thirties, but it continues to ring true. Let's all be glad he's not in his mid-late-thirties like sad old Coulton, shall we?

Front takes the evening off to see Zoe Keating and Imogen Heap do their things in Brooklyn. A fine time is guaranteed.

11.24.09

Front takes a moment from tinkering with his upcoming album to remember those less fortunate albums that came before. Thusly: the title track from our current offering, Final Boss, is suddenly free to download. And since we here at frontalot.com don't give one solitary damn about the normal order of things, here's a new single from the previous album, Secrets From The Future, a song called I Hate Your Blog, which you may now enjoy in MP3 format. Should you have any desire to own these fine albums, we facilitate their physical or digital acquisition on this very website.

Yes, News From The Front readers, we are aware that today is Tuesday. Maybe we are busy over here at Nerdcore HQ. Or maybe we just like to keep you on your toes by lying about things (like what day new singles are going to come out).

In tangential national news: Kimmy Gatewood (who sings on that single) runs wild with her Apple Sisters in Vegas and LA over the next couple weeks; the 941 Theater in Philly seeks rescue from the ravages of this economic climate; Matt Steckler's at The Stone in NYC on the 29th; you're supposed to eat a turkey on thursday but it is okay if you don't. On that evening, Front will probably have Popeye's with Jick and then do KoL Radio from 11-1A (Eastern). Mmmmmm, popcorn shrimp. Mmmmmm, gin.

Here is some more site navigation for you.

Quote of the Week
"Never has a little boy sat so alone at his computer and busted out such in- conceivably thick rhymes. MC Frontalot has tapped the zeitgeist. It is with good reason that he is so very famous and rich."
