This thread has been created expressly for the comparison of the shows "30 Rock" and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". I'll open by explaining my feelings on the shows.
-I find the characters and their interactions to be consistently amusing on 30 Rock, with the odd clever reference thrown in. -In my experience, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is simply a string of lewd, ignorant, or base jokes or situations. |

So basically you're looking to start an argument. Okay.
I prefer 30 Rock overall, as I find it to be packed with clever jokes and smartly-timed one-liners that tend to enhance even their stalest plots. While I feel it has flagged some over the years, the moment-to-moment jokes are as sharp as they ever were. Even so, I really like Always Sunny. The characters in the show are quite possibly the most despicable protagonists in the history of television. They are the Worst People Ever, and they never improve, never learn lessons, and never win. The best that happens to them is they break even and are no further than they were when they started. While some episodes fall flat, the show is willing to plumb the depths of weirdness and does not shy away from offensive topics (which it tends to pull off well because the characters are already so loathsome that it doesn't actually hurt your opinion of them to see them stoop lower), making it the closest approximation to a live-action South Park that we're ever likely to see. And that's my opinion. For the record, my current favorite comedy show is Community. |

I never watched more than an ep or two of Always Sunny, so maybe my vote is not fair, haha. But I love 30 Rock! I think it's very clever.
3PO, I love Community, too! You know what sitcom is way funnier than I thought it'd be? Cougar Town. I thought it looked incredibly lame; like it would be just another stale sitcom. But it was created by the same dude that did Scrubs and that show was great. |

Aye, I'm certainly digging Cougar Town as well. And Modern Family.
Can't say I've heard of the Philadephia show. |

The Emotional Chicken game was just too god damned funny. I really like Cougar Town and watch all the episodes as they come out on Hulu.

Aww man, really? 30 rock? I mean that show is funny half the time. While sunny is consistently stupid and hilarious. Theirs just no comparison.
