Here we are ladies. A chat thread for us. Boys are welcome, but be advised the topics within might be somewhat frightening.

Yay!

*passes around the chocolate and sets up a cooler with drinks*

Ever have one of those days where even though you know you haven't gained any weight overnight, you just feel fatter/uglier? I had one of those days yesterday, it was strange. But today I feel just peachy and even danced an extra half hour during my workout because I felt so awesome.

On another note, spring is starting to look like it is here today (finally) I'm wanting to start going hiking regularly again and am soooo stoked but I gotta find a hiking buddy.

Its gonna take some getting used to comming here - the old thread was just so nice - its like getting a new pillow.

I send out 5 resumes today, and I have a list of 5 places to actually go to on monday, plus a few numbers to call where friends work. I want at least two offers by the end of the week!

I always have issues with my skin, although sometimes, yes a blemish does pop up overnight, today it just feels like I went from my usual good skin to someone's bad jr high skin.

ugh, I hate that. I use a tremendous amount of skin products because I have to look good all the time. Even on my bad days. I've learned to find creative ways to hide blemishes, though. Got a tremendous zit on your cheek that's too monstrous for an extra dot of foundation? Well, time for a fake star tattoo in black for the day ... or a bandaid for a pretend owie ... or well-placed hair styling or ...

Unfortunately I have a job that requires a traditional "professional" appearance, so I can't do star tattoos on my face, I don't wear makeup but once in a blue moon and never when I'm broken out ( I get rosacha if I do )and I have very short hair. I just have to wear it with pride!

I get the fat/ugly thing, but usually it's during that time of the month. Being bloated is totally underrated. XD

I love skin products. I have super dry skin, but I noticed if I moisturize it the way it likes then I don't break out as bad (even during my period). I spent hundreds of dollars at Origins because my face loves their Dr. Weil line of products.

I'm still looking for a good eye cream. Gotta keep those crows feet at bay!!

I love make-up, but I use it minimally. I wear enough to make my color look uniform and spruce up my eyes. I cannot live without mascara/lip gloss. I would probably die without it.

Yes, I am budgeted for that trip - we are so on! If you'd like I can go ahead and buy our tickets online.

I notice the title of this thread could be renamed using the acronym A.C.T. F.A.G. Usually that is the very thing I have to do in order to blend in with girls. Hey-oh.

Passing the potentially insensitive topic, do you think chapstick is more popular because of its cosmetic use, or the soothing use?

My appearance (to state the obvious) is very much a part of my income - as a result, make up is my friend. I'm extremely pale and bright lights are notorious for washing out features. Couple that with the whole goth-esque look which pretty much serves as a way to separate me a little from my peers ... Basically, I wear excessive make-up, especially around my eyes and on my lips. I also use a lot of skin care products. But it works for me and I don't expect others to follow suit.

Were you seeking to blend .... or did you have other motivations? I should warn you, I have super imposter senses ... they just don't work all the time.

Possibly both. Since one of the motivations for make-up *might* be due to people attempting to mimic features expressed during arousal, chapstick and other things people do to enhance the appearance of lips (even if it is to moisturize) could be attempts to do the same. I will note that these habits are not directly justified by notions like, "I'm trying to simulate arousal" but are more indirectly justified. Since we are attracted to arousal and fertility indicators that is what we guage beauty on and then said beauty is mimicked through various habits that we have. That being said, having one's lips soothed generally means that they at least feel healthier and are likely plumper and smoother than if they were dry.

I forgot to mention something - when I mention arousal indicators, I mean things like the widening of the eyes and darkening of areas of flesh that occur during arousal. The lips often also darken and cheeks flush ... etc.

I'm a Burt's Bees lip balm girl myself. And in typical nerd-girl fashion, I only do makeup when I'm feeling motivated. ;)

I can say I once suffered from a bad chapstick addiction, I would carry at least 5 differednt types with me at all times and use them contantly. Then one day I got a free sample size of one and it made me break out horribly - nothing like a blistering rash around your mouth to make you quit the balms! I now just use burts bees and the occasional gloss.

Yes ayapa - I would love to get together before we go, this comming week or weekend, perhaps? I have the same name on yahoo messenger ( and e-mail ).

I can totally understand the no-make up geek girl thing because I used to do that before I started stripping. Then I did what the market called for. I won't object to it, really, though, because I can fit comfortably in a specific genre and still am not really conforming to the 'norm.' If it wasn't such a major part of my income, I probably wouldn't have started wearing it as much. I have an idea now, though, that because I'm so comfortable in my style that even when I move on to other stages of my career goals that I will probably continue very similar practices.

I did have an idea one day when I was incredibly tired, but still on cam and blogging about fractals at the same time that someone should invent caffinated make-up for people like me ....
