Help!
I'm in need of some mathematical comedic relief! A certain regular BBS member seems enamoured with Matt Parker (standupmaths). Are there additional noteworthy resources for math-based humor? |

Read this!
Or at least read the bits of it which consist of lists of mathematical jokes. LukeSurl.com has some good maths jokes on it, but I think you're already aware of those. Matt Parker has been very funny every time I've seen him. |

I found this page with a lot of links to funny papers mostly relating to theoretical computer science: http://cstheory.stackexchange.com/questions/3111/funny-tcs-related-papers-etc
Here are some highlights: 'Lower Bounds for Probably-istic Polynomial Time' http://web.archive.org/web/20080516195038/http://cs-people.bu.edu/charlton/probpt.pdf 'The Complexity of Songs' (by Don Knuth, who seems to have written a lot of funny papers... also I saw him talk a few weeks ago which was cool, and he made a few jokes in person as well) http://dl.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=358042&bnc=1 Another Knuth one: The Toilet Paper Problem http://gi.cebitec.uni-bielefeld.de/teaching/2007summer/jclub/papers/toiletPaper.pdf Generalizing Overloading for C++2000 (I didn't find this on the above link but I found it as a result of searches that followed... it's amusing): http://www.stroustrup.com/whitespace98.pdf Most are best scanned, rather than read thoroughly, unless you feel like having a truly intellectual snicker. |

Wicked! This will make my maths-nerd friend very happy!
And I love it too :) |
