There's this site that logs "votes" for text-based games and ranks them continually based on how many players vote for their game. It's essentially a measurement of how numerous and dedicated the player base of any given game is. Basically I'd like to bump the vote count of my game with a bit more ease than I currently am employing.
The site scans IP address and checks for a cookie to keep you from voting more often than once every 12 hours. Right now my browser clears out their cookie every time I close it. I have to disconnect/reconnect my Internet access to get a new IP. That's the pain-in-the-ass part. I still log off-on-vote-repeat a few times now and again to register votes, but it'd be nice if I could make an easier time of it. Suggestions? |

Hmmm... a republican wants help hacking the vote, how quaint. ;-)
The key to your Rovian scheme may be the use of proxy servers. FYI: you are an evil evil man. Have fun! |

It's not really an election. Nobody *wins* really. It just measures how popular a game is and how much its base cares about the game. In that sense, svg cheatz are totally representative! You like that justification? Yeah.
Srsly, though, get specific for me? Pls? =[ |

Well, this is not anything I have actually done, or even really worked on myself, but by going through a proxy server you will be showing them a different IP adress. I think there are even proxy servers that will bounce you around to many IPs without logging out/back in.
Like I say, I've never actually looked into doing such a thing, but my instinct (and limited geek skills) tell me that is the general direction that you want to move with this thing. You might also get some clever ideas by looking into how people hack services like rapidshare. (Google can tell you more than I can on this) |

Oh, BTW, the comment about bieng an evil man had nothing to do with the hacking of hte vote on that web site... that's all in good fun. It was the satanic symbol on your hat that tipped me off ;-)

Google for as many proxy websites that you can, like http://www.proxyfoxy.com, and put the url of the voting site in there, then vote.
Not super fast, but still quicker than disconnecting from the internet and reconnecting. A faster way might be to capture the HTTP request data packet that your web browser sends, and conjure some way to repeatedly send that packet with random IP address data. I have no idea on how to actually do that, but I think it should work, also if this is a long time running vote thingy, then you may have some time to work on it. |

I will chime in despite knowing little or nothing on the topic to say that I've always heard that IP spoofing is actually hells of difficult. So in this day & age maybe bouncing around from proxy to proxy is a better solution... though it is, as noted, time intensive, so it will not create a high volume of votes.
Is its IP logging good? I assume you've already tried getting rid of the cookie and found yourself barred from re-voting anyway. |

seems to me i recall something that shifts your ip around being used for bt/azereus? i don't use p2p or torrents, so i'll ask my boyfriend when i get the chance and have half a memory to get said info back here. i already wasted my short-term memory for the day ;)
