Awesome Bits of Ephemera |

This is a young, just budded clone of the "crazy cool links" thread that exists in the VSP only portion of the forum. To consolidate the crazy cool links we have here. Post here, these things.
Unless, of course, the thread falls off the front page and we forget it's here. To whit, here is some awesome bouncing. -Yook |

I hate cartoons now. Though I suppose that is the way it always has been. I'm sure many of you who have a decade or so on me hate the cartoons that came out when I was a kid. I'm probably blinded by the ecstasy I felt as a child, and when I can view comparative tripe, have the blinder removed.

Previterror: I have a vast collection of late 80s and early 90s TV shows (especially cartoons) that I've gone back and watched. I've realized that much of it was vastly superior to current cartoons, but some of it really, really sucked.
My mom even agrees with me--cartoons from when I was a child are much better than those of my sister's age (she's 11 years younger than me, and finished her "I like Disney and Nickelodeon cartoons" phase a year or two ago). I don't think it's just my generation's cartoons that are better--I think it's that the current crop is much worse. Even shows that I didn't watch as a child (Squiddly Diddly, Wendy the Witch, Mighty Mouse) are superior to most cartoons nowadays. And beyond cartoons, compare You Can't Do That on Television and All That with The Ashley Show, and you come to the same conclusion--Nick and Disney have been dumbing down children's entertainment for about a decade or so now. But whatever. I'll just sit in my cave with my preciousses and bask in the warmth of nostalgia. |

I love my cave with its nostalgia lamp.

I tried to watch M.A.S.K. about a year ago and couldn't make it through one episode.

howabout Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors? I remember watching that every day in 4th or 5th grade. At the time it confounded me because it was so obviously one of the toy commercial cartoons but as far as I could tell the toys did not exist.

I don't know how many times you all have seen this, but it makes me happy every time I watch it.

No one can say I didn't properly warn you against it. Granted you probably would never have known it existed, it's still a little funny. Ah, how I love my ability to slip back and forth between immaturity and depth.
